Full Snow Moon

February’s Full Moon is known as the Snow Moon as historically February is the month with the greatest snowfall. The Full Snow Moon which we will see on February 24th is also a Micromoon; the opposite of a Supermoon, meaning that Grandmother Moon is further away from Mother Earth, making her appear to be smaller.

Other names for this month’s Moon have historically had a connection to animals and include the Bald Eagle Moon; Eagle Moon; Bear Moon; Black Bear Moon; Raccoon Moon; Groundhog Moon and Goose Moon.

The Full Snow Moon spiritually is a time for purification and letting go; symbolising a period of cleansing and renewal as well as change, hope, growth and creativity. It is very much a time of change and transition, rather like the February weather itself.

Self reflection can be key during this transition phase and I love to combine Tarot Reading with Journaling. Here is a Tarot Spread which I will be using on the evening of our beautiful Full Snow Moon. I will draw the cards and then reflect on the cards which I have drawn in my journal. For the questions in the spread, I though of the qualities of snow and also the themes for this Full Moon.
